Christmas – God’s Plan of Reconciliation

Christmas is one of my absolute, favorite times of the year. I love the delicious, mouthwatering foods from fried turkey and dressing to my favorite desserts – red velvet cake and pecan pie. I can also remember being mesmerized by the decorations accented by twinkling lights as my parents and my siblings would ride for hours to see the Christmas “lights” in my small, hometown of Dillon, SC. Jan and my children continuously tell me I am a fun loving kid stuck in a grown up body, and I am! I still marvel at the beautiful and fun lights of all colors and decorations of all kinds.

My most favorite memories of Christmas though are the times spent with friends, family, and loved ones. Growing up, my mom’s 10 brothers and sisters along with all of their children would get together with everyone gathered around the piano while we sang all of the favorite songs of the season.

Jan and I are now celebrating timeless traditions with our 4, adult children and their spouses and creating new traditions as our family grows to include 3 grandbabies, Caroline who is 2, Carson who is 2 months, and Jaylee who will make her long awaited appearance in March of 2021.

All of this earthly fanfare; however, pales in comparison to the true meaning of Christmas - the Divine Designer of the universe sacrificed everything to bring us back into a relationship with Him on Christmas Day!

Jesus, the one and only Son of the Creator, took on flesh and was born as a helpless, little baby over 2000 years ago on Christmas Day. He came because we have all sinned and deserve God’s judgment. God sent Jesus to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the Creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried and rose from the dead on Easter morning.

If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgement and spend eternity with God in heaven.

As you are enjoying all of the festivities of the Christmas Season, if you have already made Jesus Lord of your life, please bask in His unconditional love and look for opportunities to serve others as we are the hands and feet of Jesus. If you have never surrendered your life to Jesus, with great urgency I encourage you to meet the Savior who gave everything to have a relationship with you.

If you would like to talk with me or one of our BFG team members about how to become a Christ Follower or have questions, please call our office today. I also recommend reading the book of John from the Bible which is called the love book. There are numerous websites such as BillyGraham.org and PeacewithGod.net that I encourage you to visit. Above all, know that my BFG team and I love you, appreciate you, and are praying for you daily. I pray God’s best blessings for you and your family as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Merry Christmas!
