We asked Jilll and Kyle some questions to help you get to know the newest members of the Berry Financial team!
Jill Parent | Executive Administrator
Where are you from?
South Windsor, CT
Why are you excited about joining the BFG team?
I have been in the insurance industry for 30 years, and you don’t have the “family” atmosphere in big companies. I have always wanted to work in a small firm, and when I interviewed for this job, I just couldn’t believe how welcoming everyone was. I am blessed to have become a part of the Berry Financial Group Family!
What are some of your favorite hobbies and interests outside of work?
I love to travel, love walking the beach in search of shark teeth, and my passion is animals! I have a 2-year-old German Shepard, Rico, that keeps me busy. I used to foster dogs and would like to get into that once we are more settled in the Myrtle Beach area.
Tell us about your family?
I have a daughter, Alex, who is a freshman at Horry Georgetown who is studying for radiology. My son, Nick, is still in CT and graduates in May with BA in Construction Management and is also in the Air Force Reserves. My husband, Dave, who is still in CT, is a hazmat truck driver and will hopefully be joining my daughter and I in Myrtle Beach very soon!
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?
I have been so fortunate to have had my mom take me to so many places in this world, but I am a Disney fanatic at heart. If given the choice to visit anywhere, I would always choose Disney!
What is your favorite color?
Green
If you could be an animal for day, what animal would you be?
Dolphins – I love watching the dolphins in the water jumping around; they always seem so happy.
What is your favorite food?
I am Italian so I have to say Spaghetti and Meatballs!
Kyle Oland | Chief Marketing Officer
Where are you from?
I was born and raised outside of Baltimore, Maryland, but Myrtle Beach is home now. After college, I moved to Florida and then to Myrtle Beach with my wife. We’ve been here five years now.
Why are you excited about joining the BFG team?
I was a client of Reid’s before joining BFG so I knew of BFG’s special culture – that’s what led me to become a client. It was that same culture and opportunity that led me to join BFG full-time! I believe we have an amazing opportunity to impact the lives of our current clients and future clients in MANY different ways. I couldn’t pass up the chance to be part of something special and life-changing!
What are some of your favorite hobbies and interests outside of work?
First and foremost, I love spending time with my wife, Morgan, and son, Bear. I also enjoy traveling with my wife. We try to take at least one trip together each year to a place we've never been. Our next stop will either be Colorado or the West Coast! Fitness is also a BIG part of our lives. Both my wife and I love to workout and test our physical limits doing CrossFit, running and swimming.
Tell us about your family?
I am married to my beautiful wife, Morgan, and we have a three-year old son named Bear! My wife and I met in college at Waynesburg University outside of Pittsburgh and have been married for five years this August!
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?
Goodness…this changes all the time. Right now, I’d love to visit Iceland. All the pictures I’ve seen make the place look absolutely magical.
What is your favorite color?
Blue
If you could be an animal for day, what animal would you be?
An eagle – it would be super cool to be able to fly!
What is your favorite food?
Well….I love to eat, so this one is tough, but if I had to pick…LASANGA!
