Hello! I'm Richard Berry. I have been assisting pre-retirees and retirees like you in the Pee Dee and the Grand Strand areas since 1987. Through my programs titled "A Confident Financial Future", I have taught thousands of people strategies designed to protect and preserve their assets, increase their retirement income, and reduce their taxes.
I have homes in Dillon, SC, and North Myrtle Beach, SC. I am a member of Ocean View Baptist Church in North Myrtle Beach. My firm, Berry Financial Group, is a member of The Dillon County and Myrtle Beach Chambers of Commerce. I earned a Bachelor's Degree from Francis Marion University and a Chartered Financial Consultant's Degree (ChFC) as well as a Chartered Life Underwriter's Degree (CLU) from The American College. I was nominated as 2007 Advisor of the Year by Senior Market Advisor (SMA) magazine, and I am a leading mentor to other financial advisors nationwide.
I attribute my success to relationships, staff, focus, and passion. I believe some people leave their financial advisors not because of a lack of returns, but because of a lack of relationships. There is a very real bond evident at Berry Financial Group, between staff members and with our clients. My staff begins each day with group devotions, reading from the Bible and praying for each other and for our clients. One of my favorite quotes is, “Help people get what they want, and you will get more of what you want.”
My business and personal life reflect my core belief that success comes from the five “F's” - faith, family, finances, fitness, and fun. I married my high school sweetheart, Jan, in 1987. We have three children, Jordan, Jamison, and Jana. My understanding of retirees and their needs has been enhanced through the personal and financial care I was able to provide my parents during their Golden Years and until their deaths in 2000 and 2001. I exercise daily and enjoy tennis, golf, water sports, and snowboarding.
Hi! I'm Janet Boyette. I retired from Wachovia Bank in March, 2004, after a very successful 32 year career. Beginning my career as a secretary in 1971, I progressed through many of the positions in the branch banking system, including Branch Manager, Senior Officer, and Licensed Financial Specialist. When Wachovia and First Union merged, I took advantage of available training over a 2 year period and received my Series 6 and Series 63 licenses, so that I would be qualified to help my customers with all types of investment products.
After a very short retirement, I joined Berry Financial Group, Inc., on Friday, August 13, 2004, as a Licensed Financial Specialist. This was one of the best decisions I have made in many years.
I received a BS in Business Administration from Winthrop University, received my SC Bankers' School certification from the University of South Carolina, and I am also a charter graduate of Leadership Pee Dee. I have served as President of the Dillon County Chamber of Commerce, and as Chairperson of St. Eugene Medical Center's Advisory Board, March of Dimes Walk-a-thon for Dillon County, and Dillon County MS Bike-a-thon.
One of the highlights of my life currently is an annual mission trip to Honduras. I have been an active member of Dillon First Baptist Church since 1960. I have two children, Randy, who resides in Columbia, SC, and Shannon, who resides in Myrtle Beach, SC. I have been happily married to Rodney Boyette, formerly of Rockingham, NC, since 1983.
Reid A. Mathews
Hey! I'm Reid Mathews. I graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a Marketing degree in the summer of 2015. I was on the baseball team until a wrist injury led me to hang up my cleats and begin showing people how to leave a legacy and supplement their retirement with tax-free money. I came on as an intern for Berry Financial Group in the spring of 2015 and was extremely blessed to get hired full time right after graduation. I am focusing on the effective and efficient use of life insurance as part of the entire financial plan and am specializing in risk management, as well as helping clients pick the right Medicare supplement once they become eligible for Medicare.
I am an active member of NewSpring Church in Myrtle Beach, SC. It has been an incredible experience watching the church grow as well as serving in the youth group there. I fully believe in the saying, "The more you give, the more you receive; and the more you believe, the more you achieve". Success is a journey, not a destination, and on the way it is important to help and serve others.
Just like Mr. Richard Berry, the five “F's” are a focal point in my business and family life: faith, family, finances, fitness, and fun. I enjoy going to movies and playing golf when I am not learning about the financial industry. My dad is a State Farm agent, and I have grown up around the business my whole life and feel like it is my purpose to help people with protecting their family, growing their assets, and living the financial life they always dreamed of.
